The Senior Director of Robotics will define long-term strategy and oversee the development, integration, and performance triage of autonomous vehicle robotics systems. This role requires strong leadership across multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring seamless integration of perception, motion planning, and control systems into a scalable autonomous driving platform.
Key Responsibilities
Set the vision and roadmap for robotics within the autonomous vehicle program.
Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing team of robotics engineers, researchers, and project managers.
Oversee design and implementation of robotics systems including perception, state estimation, sensor fusion, and control.
Ensure systems are scalable, reliable, and safe for real-world deployment.
Collaborate across AI/ML, hardware, software, and safety engineering teams.
Manage budgets, resources, and strategic build-versus-buy decisions.
Stay at the forefront of industry research and advancements, providing technical guidance on complex robotics challenges.
Required Qualifications
10 - 15+ years of robotics experience, with significant leadership responsibilities.
Proven background in autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or complex robotics applications.
Demonstrated success leading large, multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Track record of taking robotics products from research to commercialization.
Expertise in sensor fusion (LiDAR, radar, cameras), SLAM, motion planning, and control theory.
Proficiency in C++ and Python programming.
Strong understanding of ROS and machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch).
Master's or Ph.D. in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
Base salary: $271,000 - $373,000 (DOE) + bonus + equity eligibility.
